FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS (January 23, 2006) -- Telco Systems, a provider of carrier-class transport and access solutions for public and private IP and TDM networks, today announced a new sleek contemporary design for its Access211 voice over IP (VoIP) media gateway, which enables service providers to offer their residential and small home office (SOHO) customers with a high-quality VoIP service using traditional analog telephones and fax machines. Nearly half the size of its predecessor, the new Access211N creates more desktop real estate and reduces associated networking expenses.

Access211N is a next-generation SIP-based VoIP gateway for broadband Internet telephone service. Through integrated routing capabilities, unique traffic shaping, and its implementation of advanced quality of service (QoS) standards, service providers and the end user enjoy superior voice quality and reduced cost since the need for an external router is eliminated.

Access211N has two analog voice lines (FXS) that support independent telephone numbers. The Ethernet port supports connectivity to a home computer, and an uplink port connects either to a cable modem or DSL modem for broadband Internet access. Access211N supports lifeline functionality in the event of a power or VoIP network failure. Additionally, voice compression capabilities enable both the service provider and end user to control voice quality.

"Access211N is distinguished from all other VoIP gateways in its class for its superior voice quality and routing functionality, particularly with its unique traffic-shaping capability that prevents heavy Internet traffic from interfering with the bandwidth required", said Dave Lee, vice president of marketing and services for Telco Systems. "Now Access211N is also distinctive for its new appealing design, which is significantly smaller, in fact it's small enough to fit in your pocket, allowing users to take it on the road."

Access211N targets service providers that want to offer out-of-territory voice services via the Internet, ILECs and CLECs adding voice services for existing customer, and new telephony VoIP providers offering voice services over broadband Internet connections to SOHO users. Access211 was first announced in June 2004.
